Mikalo and Aistii – A strategic partnership that took development to the next level

Mikalo Oy is a rental housing company owned by the City of Mikkeli, offering affordable rental apartments to various target groups in the Mikkeli area. The company manages an extensive portfolio of properties, including both apartment buildings and row houses located throughout the city. The collaboration began with a comprehensive staff, well-being, and productivity assessment. The results have been utilized in many ways.
“When we reviewed the results in our management team together with Pasi, we realized, among other things, that our company’s goals and direction could use more clarity,” Kuvaja explains.

“We conducted strategic work facilitated by Pasi together with the Chair of Mikalo’s Board. From the very beginning, the process had an open and trusting atmosphere. The aim was to build a strategy that supports Mikalo’s long-term growth. It was a smooth and relatively quick project,” Kuvaja describes.
The project utilized Aistii’s assessment findings and the participants’ deep expertise in the rental housing market.

In the next phase, Aistii designed and led a staff day for us, where the assessment findings and strategic guidelines were developed collaboratively, with input from the entire personnel.
“This enabled us to engage the whole organization in the new goals and operating models. To implement the strategy, we have focused particularly on leadership coaching and individual coaching sessions. These efforts ensure that the strategy transforms into concrete actions in day-to-day leadership and operations,” says Kuvaja.
